Gender Objet D’Art
Coupling is an Object Art work made by TANE and Edgar Negret. He was born in Popayaán, Colombia and studied at the School of Fine Arts. In 1943 he had his first exhibition at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Cali. During the 1960s he produced posters, painted sculpture, cardboard models and decorated a considerable number of theaters in New York. He also began to work on objects called sputniks, sky watchers, eclipses, which were a reflection of the technological moment he was living in. Negret's work, composed of aluminum, metal and screws, is nothing more than the representation of a useless machine, but at the same time denotes an extraordinary beauty, as well as an awareness of the current moment in which we live.
